Plot
On their weekend excursion to the Joshua Tree desert, a group of youngsters unwittingly summon otherworldly creatures. Shape shifters are the name given to these otherworldly creatures. Shape shifters are creatures that can imitate and take on the appearances of other people.
In the film, the monsters imitate and shape-shift the adolescents, dividing them into five groups in order to finish their lethal ritual.

Storyline
Director Elle Callahan’s first film, Headcount, brings the horror web to life. Evan returns to Joshua Tree to see his brother Payton for the first time. They went trekking and came upon a bunch of pals who were having a party. Evan is liked by one of the group members, Zoe. As a result, she invites him to their home for a party. Evan nodded and walked away from his brother.
They all decide to spend the night together and chat about horror and frightening tales. Each of them tells a narrative, but Evan is unaware of any. As a result, he was instructed to go to a website and read one. As a result, he comes across a tale about a shape shifter called Hisji. When his name is uttered five times, he appears. The gang laughs it off and calls him five times, culminating in the shape shifter showing up and joining them.
Hisji splits his pals into groups and assumes various forms of them in order to complete his terrible ritual.
The problem with this film was that the supernatural entity was not portrayed to be very frightening or terrifying in order to justify the 90-minute running time. Headcount had a great plot and foundation, but the execution was lacking, making it a less effective horror for the audience to watch and enjoy.
